Phony Microsoft Update May Be Firefox Malware

A false alert that that is only visible on firefox browsers has been popping up lately.  It tells you that there is an urgent new Microft update that you must install, and then it asks you to install the update.
The clue that the updates are phony is that they appear only when the affected computer uses Firefox.
Real updates will come via Internet Explorer and not firefox or any other browser.

Victims who click on a button or link to receive the urgent updates will have their computers taken over with malware that seizes up their comptuers.

A pop-up that frequently shows up says the infection can be cleaned up by buying anti-virus software – a phony product attempted to be sold by the criminals who made the trick (phony) Microsoft update notification.
